HDR10+
An open, royalty-free HDR format developed by Samsung and Amazon that adds dynamic metadata to HDR10. Functionally similar to Dolby Vision but without licensing fees.
HDR10+ extends HDR10 with scene-by-scene dynamic metadata, letting displays tone-map dark and bright scenes independently. Unlike Dolby Vision, HDR10+ is royalty-free.
Where you'll find it
Samsung TVs (which don't support Dolby Vision) lean heavily on HDR10+. Amazon Prime Video is the largest catalog of HDR10+ titles; Apple TV+ and Disney+ favor Dolby Vision.
HDR10+ Adaptive
Adjusts the tone curve based on ambient light, similar in concept to Dolby Vision IQ.
Practical advice
If your TV supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, you'll rarely pick manually — players negotiate the best available format. If your TV supports only one, your streaming experience is gated by which services use it.
