Input lag

The delay between an input action and the corresponding visible result on a display. Lower input lag generally makes games and interactive interfaces feel more responsive.

Input lag includes the time required for a controller, console or PC, game engine, display connection, and display processing to respond. It is distinct from pixel response time, which describes how quickly pixels transition between shades.

Why game mode matters

Televisions frequently apply picture processing that improves film playback but adds delay. Game Mode usually bypasses much of that processing, lowering lag. Test the picture in the mode you will use; some controls and HDR behavior may change when Game Mode is active.

What to prioritize

Competitive players should value low latency and a stable frame rate. Single-player and cinematic games may make a more balanced trade-off among picture quality, HDR, and responsiveness. Refresh rate and VRR can complement low input lag, but they do not replace it.

How to use Input lag in a real comparison

The delay between an input action and the corresponding visible result on a display. Lower input lag generally makes games and interactive interfaces feel more responsive. In practice, this is most useful as one part of a decision rather than a standalone quality badge. Compare it alongside the workload, room, ecosystem, budget, and ownership constraints that apply to you; the strongest published figure is not automatically the best outcome for every buyer.

On vsMars, read together so the value has product-specific context. It is especially relevant in .

Avoid the one-number trap

Manufacturers can describe the same capability under different conditions. Compare like-for-like variants, check the unit and test condition where available, and use a head-to-head page to see whether a measurable difference is material for your own use.

vsMars presents structured catalog values to make trade-offs legible. The linked product and spec pages are the right place to inspect the underlying values before buying.
